Setup

Player starts on the wing with a passer at the top of the key playing the role of the ball handler.

How it runs

  1. Take two steps out toward the ball, then a cross step, then one more step while showing the open hand as a target.
  2. Plant that foot, swing the target hand through and cut back door hard.
  3. Catch the pass and jump stop with the toes pointed to the baseline.
  4. Protect the ball with the body, lead with the near elbow and finish with a bank shot.

Coaching point

Selling the hand target is what makes the defender step up and open the back door.
