Setup

Five defenders in a 1-3-1 with the most mobile wing-type player as the baseline runner. Five offensive players in a 2-3 set spread to both corners.

How it runs

  1. Offense passes and skips the ball; the baseline runner covers every corner catch, sprinting side to side.
  2. When the ball is at the wing, the runner protects the low post on the baseline side.
  3. On a corner catch with 'trap on' called by the coach, the ballside wing and runner trap; the point takes away the sideline pass out and the middle cuts off the middle.
  4. The opposite wing takes the long pass on a trap and is the weakside rebounder.
  5. On any shot every defender blocks out the player in his area; with no one there, crash.

Coaching point

Runner sprints on the pass, not after the catch.
