Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

Three offensive players at the top and both wings, three defenders. Wing defenders deny hard; the defender of the far wing is on the rim line.

How it runs

  1. The top player holds the ball; the ball-side wing is denied and back-cuts to the rim.
  2. The denying defender snaps his head to the ball and runs with the cutter, keeping a hand in the lane.
  3. The rim-line helper steps across to take the bounce or lob pass, ideally set to draw a charge.
  4. After the cut, all three defenders reposition and the offense plays live for 10 seconds.

Coaching point

On a back-cut, turn your head toward the ball, never away from it.
