Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

2-on-2 high screen with a shooting screener who always pops, plus an offensive spot-up player in the weak-side slot with a defender.

How it runs

  1. Ball defender goes over; screener's defender shows high to slow the dribbler.
  2. As the screener pops, the showing defender releases and sprints to a short, controlled closeout.
  3. The weak-side defender fakes toward the popper to delay the pass, then gets back to his own man.
  4. If the popper catches, he may shoot or attack the closeout; defense plays it live.
  5. Rotate offense to defense after each possession.

Coaching point

Recover on the popper's shooting side with high hands; do not fly by.
