Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

The team lines up in single file facing the basket. The coach stands off to one side within easy passing range.

How it runs

  1. The first player dribbles toward the basket and passes to the coach.
  2. They immediately cut past the coach toward the ring with a target hand up.
  3. The coach returns the pass and the player finishes with a layup or short shot.
  4. Rebound, rejoin the line, next player goes.

Coaching point

The cut starts the instant the pass leaves the hands – that is the entire lesson.
