Setup

Two defenders in tandem at each end; two outlet players on each sideline at the free-throw line extended. Three attackers start at one end.

How it runs

  1. Three attack 3-on-2; after a score or stop, the defender who gets the ball outlets to a sideline player.
  2. The outlet player and the two defenders now attack the other end 3-on-2 against the waiting pair.
  3. Rule twist: the ball must be passed ahead over half court before any dribble is used in the backcourt.
  4. The three players who just attacked: two stay as the new tandem defenders, the third goes to the outlet spot.
  5. Keep the drill running without stopping for 4 to 6 minutes.

Coaching point

Outlet catches facing the sideline and turns to look up the floor straight away.
