Setup

3-on-3 or 4-on-4 full court. Each possession has a dribble budget: the first ball handler may dribble three times, the second twice, the third once, then no dribbles.

How it runs

  1. Start with a coach's shot; the team that rebounds attacks the other end.
  2. The first player to handle the ball has three dribbles; after passing, the next receiver has two, then one.
  3. From the fourth touch on, the offense may only pass and cut.
  4. Change of possession on any score, stop or violation; play continuously.

Coaching point

Pass ahead early: the budget rewards moving the ball, not dribbling it.
