Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

2-on-2 on a wing: ball handler, screener coming from the elbow, two defenders. Before each rep the coach secretly tells the ball defender to either play honest or jump to the screen side early.

How it runs

  1. Screener approaches to set a screen toward the middle.
  2. Handler reads his defender's feet as the screener arrives.
  3. If the defender jumps high to push him into the screen, the handler fakes toward the screen and attacks the other way with a crossover.
  4. If the defender plays honest, the handler uses the screen normally.
  5. After a rejection the handler must create his own shot; the screener slides to open space.

Coaching point

Rejecting only works if the defender has committed; read the lead foot.
