Setup

2-on-2 at the top of the key: guard with ball, big as screener, two defenders. The screener's defender must hedge on every screen.

How it runs

  1. Big sets a high screen; the ball defender goes over and the screener's defender shows.
  2. Handler takes a minimum of two dribbles away from the hedge, using a lateral fan dribble with shoulders square to the rim.
  3. If the hedger stays flat or only reaches with a hand and foot, the handler turns the corner around him.
  4. If the hedge is hard and long, the handler keeps dribbling to drag it out and then finds the rolling big.
  5. Play live until score or stop; winners stay on offense.

Coaching point

Picking up the dribble against a hedge is the worst outcome; the defense recovers for free.
