Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

A passer at the top with the ball, a receiver on the wing, and a defender instructed to deny the wing entry with a hand in the passing lane.

How it runs

  1. The wing tries to get open; the defender denies the pass.
  2. The moment the wing feels the denial, they cut hard to the basket rather than fighting out for the ball.
  3. The passer delivers a bounce pass to the inside hand for the finish.
  4. Repeat from the corner position so players learn the same rule from both spots.

Coaching point

The rule is simple and absolute: denied means cut, immediately, every time.
