Setup

Put five pieces of tape on the floor in the spots you want your offense to occupy. Run four on zero or five on zero to start.

How it runs

  1. Players pass the ball around the perimeter, each one standing on a piece of tape.
  2. After every pass the passer makes one of three basic cuts: a straight cut, a basket cut or a back cut.
  3. After the cut he must find an empty piece of tape to stand on.
  4. Once the pattern holds together, add defenders and let them play.

Coaching point

The tape gives young players a physical reference for spacing, which they cannot yet judge by eye.
