Setup
Groups of three: ball handler, live on-ball defender and a screener with no defender. Start at the top with the ball handler holding or dribbling.
How it runs
- The screener walks toward the ball; the handler waits and does not move until the screener's feet are planted.
- As the screener lands, the handler sets up away from the screen: in-and-out dribble, step-across, or a hard rip-through if the dribble is still alive.
- He crosses back and comes off shoulder to shoulder with the screener, forcing his defender to go over.
- He turns the corner downhill with at least two dribbles and finishes at the rim or with a pull-up at the elbow.
- Defender tries to stay attached; rotate positions every rep.
Coaching point
Wait for the screen: leaving early gets the screener called for a moving pick.
