Setup

A passer stands ready near the shooting spot with a ball; the shooter starts in the centre circle. Pick a starting score to suit the level: around four for a high school player, higher for a better shooter.

How it runs

  1. Sprint from the centre circle to the shooting spot and take the pass on the move.
  2. Shoot. A make takes one off the score, a miss adds one on.
  3. Backpedal all the way to half court, then turn and sprint in for the next shot.
  4. The game ends when the score reaches zero, which the shooter wins, or ten, which he loses.

Coaching point

The catch happens on the move with the feet already prepared to shoot, never standing and waiting.
