Setup

Three attackers inbound under their own basket against four pressing defenders, two of whom are assigned to trap the first catch.

How it runs

  1. The inbounder waits while two teammates start away and cut back to the ball to get open.
  2. On the catch, two defenders trap; the ball handler keeps his dribble alive, protects the ball and looks to pass out before the trap closes.
  3. If the three get past half court, they attack the rim and look for a 2-on-1 pocket.
  4. On any change of possession, the four defenders become attackers and push 4-on-3 the other way.
  5. Play to two scores, then rotate groups.

Coaching point

Break back toward the ball, never start on the baseline.
