Setup

Five defenders play a 2-3 or 1-3-1. Five offensive players must make three passes, then any player may shoot.

How it runs

  1. Offense moves the ball; defense plays zone slides.
  2. On the shot, each defender finds the offensive player in his area and blocks out.
  3. If nobody is in your area, go straight to the rim and rebound.
  4. The weakside wing and the top defender cover the weakside and long rebound spots.
  5. Defense must secure the ball and outlet it to a coach at the sideline to finish.

Coaching point

Zone defenders can have two players in their area; pick the one closest to the rim.
