Setup

Groups of three: ball handler, on-ball defender, and a screener holding a pad. The screener sets a high or side screen on every rep.

How it runs

  1. Handler dribbles toward the screen; the defender pressures and pushes him into it.
  2. As the handler arrives, the defender steps his lead foot over the top of the screener's outside foot.
  3. He turns his hips and shoulders sideways to squeeze through the gap between screener and dribbler.
  4. He recovers to the dribbler's hip and contests the pull-up or cuts off the drive.
  5. Rotate roles after each rep.

Coaching point

Lead foot first, then shoulders; go sideways so you take up less space.
