Setup
Offense has a wing, a high post and a low post; defense has a fronting post defender and a weak-side help defender who starts in the lane. The ball starts on the wing.
How it runs
- Wing looks inside; the low post defender plays in front so the direct entry is closed.
- Wing reverses the ball to the high post at the elbow.
- Low post holds the defender on his back as the ball moves up, pivots on the top foot and calls for the ball with a high outside hand.
- High post reads the weak-side helper: if the helper stays home, throw the lob; if the helper steps across, hit the wing on the skip or shoot the elbow jumper.
- Play live until a score or a defensive stop.
Coaching point
Low post should not chase the ball; hold position and let the pass come to you.
