Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

Offense: low post, ball-side wing, top. Defense matches up. The post is allowed to catch.

How it runs

  1. The wing enters the ball to the post.
  2. The post defender plays behind and forces the post to dribble.
  3. On the post's first dribble the wing defender digs down with active hands toward the ball; on the second dribble he commits.
  4. When the post kicks out, the digging defender recovers; the top defender helps on the wing's drive if the recovery is late.
  5. Play live to a shot, then rotate positions.

Coaching point

Dig from the side of the passer, keeping a line to the shooter.
