Setup

Two guards at the top with the post at the high post, plus wings filling the corners. Run the whole series from each side.

How it runs

  1. On the guard-to-guard pass the post steps up and sets a backscreen for the passer, who cuts to the block.
  2. The guard with the ball looks for him coming off that backscreen first.
  3. The post then turns and screens for the ball handler, who can shoot from the elbow, hit the post rolling or popping, or pass to the first cutter.
  4. Taking the screen is optional, and refusing it is the better answer whenever the defender has already committed over the top.

Coaching point

The ball should end up at the elbow off this screen, which is the shot the action is built for.
