Setup
Passer at the top, cutter on the block, screener at the elbow side of the lane. Defenders on cutter and screener; the passer is unguarded.
How it runs
- Screener comes down and screens the cutter's defender; the cutter waits until the screen is set before moving.
- Cutter reads his defender: curl if trailed, fade if the defender cheats under, straight up if the defender sits behind.
- Screener then reads the cutter: if the cutter curls, he pops back out to the arc; if the cutter fades or pops, he seals and ducks in toward the ball.
- Passer delivers to whoever is open; play live to a finish.
- Rotate one spot after each rep.
Coaching point
The screen creates two options: the cutter first, the screener second.
