Setup
Five offense against a five-man zone (2-3 or 1-3-1 called by the coach). The offense earns bonus points for shots that come right after the ball changes sides.
How it runs
- Offense sets in the gaps of the zone the coach calls.
- Move the ball side to side with quick passes; a skip pass over the top counts as a reversal.
- A shot taken within one pass or one dribble after the ball switches sides earns a bonus point if it is a good look.
- Weakside players flash or flare into the gaps as the zone shifts to the new side.
- Play five possessions, then switch roles.
Coaching point
The zone is weakest while it is shifting; attack on the catch after a reversal.
