Setup

Ball handler on the wing, a big defender dropped in the paint just above the restricted area. Cones mark floater range between the block and the free throw line.

How it runs

  1. Ball handler drives into the lane in one or two dribbles.
  2. If the big stays back at the rim, the handler releases a floater from inside the cones.
  3. If the big steps up to the floater zone, the handler continues to the rim or pulls up earlier.
  4. Big contests with a vertical hand, not a swipe.
  5. Rotate roles after each rep.

Coaching point

Release early and high; the floater must go over the big's reach.
