Setup

Two teams of five and a clock set under four minutes. Have coaches, staff or real officials call the game as tightly as possible.

How it runs

  1. Set a time, a score and a shot-clock situation, and announce it.
  2. Play the situation out under game rules and game officiating.
  3. Work both sides of it: the team behind has to foul and manage the clock, the team ahead has to score from the free throw line and give nothing away.
  4. Reset with a new time and score and repeat several times.

Coaching point

The team ahead should be trying to dominate the last four minutes from the foul line rather than just running clock.
