Court diagram of the Seal-and-Show Inbound 3-on-3 basketball drill: start positions and movement
Basket at the top. Orange circles: offense, X: defense, wavy line: dribble, dashed line: pass.

Setup

One inbounder on the baseline and two ball handlers in a stack or stagger inside the free-throw line area. Three defenders deny all-out; the inbounder may not throw over the top.

How it runs

  1. Receivers get open by screening for each other, cutting straight to the ball or curling.
  2. Teach the seal: the receiver pins his defender with his hips, stays low and wide, and shows a target hand away from the defense.
  3. The inbounder passes to the target hand, away from the defender.
  4. After the catch, the receiver pivots, faces up the court and keeps a teammate behind him as a release.
  5. Play five seconds; rotate positions after each entry.

Coaching point

Catch no closer than a few feet from the baseline so you can still pass back.
